In May, a massive forest fire began making its way across the province of Alberta, causing disastrous effects for the population of our northern neighbour Fort McMurray, the entire population of which has been evacuated. The Red Cross is assisting the evacuees as many had to leave with very few of their possessions.
This news comes after the terrible earthquakes that occurred in April that affected the city of Kumamoto in Japan , the worst of which reached a magnitude of 7.0 and destroyed buildings, infrastructure, and took lives. The Red Cross is also accepting donations for Kumamoto.
Kita no Taiko is very moved by the suffering of our friends in Fort McMurray and in Kumamoto, and we wish to help. In association with the Edmonton Japanese Community Association, we are holding a fundraising event to gather money for the Red Cross. It will be held on the evening of June 11 and will feature Kita no Taiko and other guest performers, a snack sale and bar, and a silent auction.
Details of our event will continue to be updated on our Performances page.
If you would like to contribute to our fundraiser right away, there is a PayPal link here.
Please attend our event to see a great show and raise funds for Red Cross to assist those who have lost so much. And bring your family and friends!
Thank you for your time and consideration,
